Luis Enrique: "Play with the same mentality from the first minutes" | OneFootball

The Paris Saint-Germain coach appeared before the media and answered questions from PSG TV ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League Matchday 8 clash with VfB Stuttgart at the Stuttgart Arena on Wednesday 29 January at 9pm.

STUTTGART

'After analysis, I'm not surprised that they finished second last season. They have some top players, some internationals. They're a team that attacks very well and defends well too. They put the pressure on. They're a very difficult team to play against. They're a team from pot 4, but they're better than most of the teams in that pot. It's going to be a tough game, also because we're playing them at their home.'

MINDSET

'It's the last game of the league phase and I think we're ready. The Champions League is motivating for the whole team. In my opinion, we have to think about playing the same way and we have to be ready to play with the same mentality from the first minutes. We've done that this season and we need to do it again. I'm as relaxed as I am for every Champions League match, which means I'm not relaxed at all! I'm ready for this competition, I'm ready for this new format which holds a lot of surprises and I'm ready to play against a rival who plays very good football.'

COMPETITION

'We want the team we have to move forward step by step. We want to have more possibilities and resources. Competition is essential for a healthy team, because the team can play better. I have the support of the club's sporting management, the staff and the team. Since last year, the aim has been to create a better team.'

pressure

'It's always the same. When a player plays for PSG, the pressure is there every match and every day. All the players know that we've done nothing and that we need to win to confirm our qualification. We have to look at this match like any other. We didn't have to prepare for this match any differently. We prepared like we did for Girona. It's exactly the same. We try to have a better team in every match, in every competition. And yes, the pressure is on every game.'
