In a bizarre plot twist, Jordan Henderson has decided to remain at Ajax until at least the end of the season. The 34-year-old had been pushing for a departure prior to Ajax’s Europa League win over Galatasaray on Thursday night. According to De Telegraaf, the England international has ’promised’ technical director Alex Kroes that he’ll finish the season in Amsterdam.
Alex Kroes reportedly headed straight for the dressing room after the full-time whistle on Thursday, where he held an intense conversation with Jordan Henderson over his future. Henderson has changed his mind entirely and regrets trying to force an exit. Multiple reports claim that he threatened to never play for the Ajax again if the club didn’t let him leave this month, although this has not been confirmed.
Jordan Henderson has featured 32 times across all competitions so far this season, providing five assists in that time. The experienced midfielder has solidified a spot as a crucial player under Francesco Farioli as Ajax continue putting pressure on PSV at the top of the Eredivisie table and push for success in the Europa League.
