Tebas revealed that the Spanish league has filed a complaint to the EU Commission
Tebas said the Spanish league filed a complaint to the EU Commission against City in the summer of 2023, claiming they used related companies in the United Arab Emirates to cover losses and improve the picture on the club's own balance sheet.
City have not publicly commented, but are believed to strongly deny the allegations and PA report that sources at the club have pointed to the public accounts as evidence of no wrongdoing.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday ahead of City’s FA Cup fifth-round clash at home to Plymouth, Guardiola responded “next’ when Tebas’ name was brought up.
Asked two follow-up questions on his accusations, Guardiola again said: “Next.”
The City boss was asked later in the press conference why City have been targeted by these claims, and he referenced the 115 charges against the club by the Premier League.
An independent commission is expected to announced in the coming weeks whether City will face any sanctions over more for those alleged financial rule breaches.
“I don’t know,” Guardiola said.
“It happened in the past with UEFA, and in a few weeks with the Premier League, the sentence. We wait and after we talk.”
Pressed on whether it was to do with City’s success, he responded: “I don’t know.”
It has been a frustrating season on the pitch for City, who sit fourth in the Premier League table and 20 points off the pace set by Liverpool.
The FA Cup is the club’s last hope of ending the campaign with some silverware, but Guardiola has played down suggestions there will be a significant overhaul of the squad in the summer.
“There are players here that their age is over 30 but they are part of the future of this club,” Guardiola said.
“Except Kevin [De Bruyne], and Kevin and the club will decide on his future everyone who has a contract for next season I expect him to be here.
“They are going to help us. Next season will be a lot of games. We cannot do it just with our new ones. They will be able to help and be part of our season."
