Manchester United could be present with a chance not to be missed, as Kenan Yildiz could be available for transfer.
The 19-year-old has been widely considered one of the brightest talents on the European stage. He started his career at Bayern Munich before being poached by Juventus in the summer of 2022. The Turkish teenager took Turin by storm in his first year, cementing himself as the crown jewel of the club’s youth academy.
So despite his tender age, he was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2023, something you don’t see every day in Italian football. Yildiz never looked out of place with the seniors, but instead showcased his brilliant class with some delightful displays in Serie A. This includes some jaw-dropping dribbles and mesmerising strikes.
Hence, the Bianconeri rewarded him with a new contract and, more importantly, the iconic Number 10 jersey once donned by the likes of Michel Platini, Roberto Baggio, and Kenan’s own idol, Alessandro Del Piero.
However, the youngster’s supposedly dream scenario turned sour this season, with the club enduring a horrific first campaign under Thiago Motta, a young manager who arrived with much fanfare, but has been failing to deliver on all levels.
In his most recent outing, Yildiz put up what was arguably his worst display since joining the club as Juventus were dismantled by Atalanta at home. Several reports had already reported he had been suffering from flu. Nevertheless, the unforgiving Motta kept him on the bench for the duration of last Sunday’s clash against Fiorentina, so ended up watching his teammates getting pummelled at the hands of Fiorentina.
So according to TeamTalk, Yildiz is no longer untouchable at Juventus who would consider selling him for circa £75 million. The source added that Man Utd have made initial contact as they’re looking to add the Turkiye star to their ranks in the summer.
This should be music to the ears of Reds everywhere, as Yildiz remains, despite his struggles this season, an absolute jewel, and arguably the ideal player to fill in one of the two attacking-midfield roles behind the striker, especially the one on the left, making him a tailor-made partner for the ‘unstoppable’ Amad Diallo.
If Juventus end up missing out on the Champions League, their financial woes could force them into selling their most prized asset, which would represent a golden opportunity for the Red Devils, perhaps one that might not be replicated in the future, especially if the teenager ends up finding his feet in Turin, or worse, get snapped by another European giants.
While forking out £75 million won’t be easy, the Red Devils would be wise to find a way to raise funds, potentially by selling those who are already on the outs, like Marcus Rashford and Antony, as a few years later, they might just look back on this hypothetical deal as one of their best calls in recent memory.
