Manchester United winger Amad posted on social media how happy he was to make his highly-anticipated return to the first team from injury.
The Ivorian broke out in the final months of last season, including two fine goals against Liverpool and Newcastle United.
He returned to being a bit part player under Erik ten Hag at the start of the season but was finally entrusted by first Ruud van Nistelrooy and later Ruben Amorim.
Amad has played 37 games this season for the club, scoring nine goals and creating eight more. Highlights include a later winner at the Etihad versus Manchester City and a hattrick versus Southampton in January.
Disaster struck though in early February when news broke that the United winger would be ruled out for the season with an ankle injury.
Nonetheless, he has made a quicker recovery than anticipated and played the final ten minutes of the clash against Athletic Club yesterday.
In response to his first action in three months he posted on Instagram, “good result in Bilbao. Happy to be back.”
Whilst there is not too much of the season left, United fans will be delighted with the return of the 22 year old.
Despite United’s goalscoring form in Europe, they have struggled immensely to find the back of the net domestically.
Alongside Bruno Fernandes, Amad is the club’s most potent attacking weapon and he will likely get the chance to impress against Brentford this weekend, in what will likely be a heavily rotated side.
He also brings tactical flexibility to the squad owing to the fact he can play as a right wing-back in Amorim’s 3-4-3 or as one of the attacking tens.
With four league games remaining, next week’s second leg of the semi-finals and hopefully a Europa League final to come, Amad’s return is an important and timely boost for the club.
