Manchester United continue to lay the groundwork for a desired summer overhaul, targeting players better suited to Ruben Amorim's tactical system.
Sporting CP teenager Geovany Quenda, someone who has already thrived under the United head coach, is one name routinely linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Portuguese outlet Record report that United had a scouting presence in Porto on Friday night as Sporting faced their Primeira Liga rivals. Eyes were there for 17-year-old Quenda, who started on the left wing and played the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw.
But it's not just one game to see Quenda. United intend to watch the youngster for a second time in quick succession on Tuesday night when Borussia Dortmund visit in the Champions League.
Quenda has already made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season. He was deployed as a wing-back on the right flank by Amorim until November, which suggests he would be a strong fit for the philosophy the former Sporting boss has brought to Manchester.
But Quenda's versatility as a more traditional winger has also been on show, switch to a higher position on the left since Rui Borges has taken over in Lisbon.
United have already strengthened out wide under Amorim, with wing-back Patrick Dorgu the only recruit to join during the recently closed January transfer window.
Dorgu was billed as a player for the left flank, although he had often lined up for former club Lecce on the right this season. The Denmark international was thrown straight into the starting XI for Friday night's FA Cup win over Leicester City, confusing fans by lining up on the right. Diogo Dalot, a right-sided player who has had to fill on the left for most of this season, kept his place on the left.
