A report from Portugal claims Manchester United have already snapped up the services of Sporting CP teenager Geovany Quenda.

After appointing Ruben Amorim as their head coach in November, the Red Devils have been linked with several of the Portuguese’s former players, including free-scoring bomber Viktor Gyokeres and impressive left-back Nuno Mendes who now plies his trade at Paris Saint-Germain.

But according to A Bola, the Premier League giants already have an agreement in hand for Quenda who is one of the club’s best young jewels.

The 17-year-old is a left-footed player who often plays as an inverted winger, cutting from the right-hand side. The youngster had a spell at Benfica’s academy before being poached by their crosstown rivals Sporting in 2019.

The teenager climbed his way in the club’s ranks before getting his breakthrough with the first team under the tutelage of Amorim. Despite his tender age, he has been a permanent member of the senior squad since the start of the current campaign. He has made 34 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing with two goals and six assists.

The source claims that United were even hoping to lure the young man to Old Trafford in January, but this proved to be an almost impossible task. Therefore, the management focused on acquiring his services for next summer, and have now reached an agreement in principle with their Portuguese counterparts who are expecting to collect a transfer fee in the region of €60 million.

It remains to be seen if this story will be confirmed by other sources in the coming hours. In the meantime, the Red Devils are bracing themselves for three busy days before the marker doors slam shut on Monday. Patrick Dorgu will be finalising his transfer to the club in the coming hours, while Marcus Rashford could end up sealing a move to Aston Villa.
