The January transfer window gives Ruben Amorim his first real chance to shape Manchester United in his image. While bigger changes are expected in the summer, reports suggest Amorim is already eyeing a key target from Paris Saint-Germain.

Manuel Ugarte, one of PSG’s summer signings, has thrived under Amorim before, showcasing their strong working relationship.

Now, rumors are swirling that Amorim is keen to bring Nuno Mendes, the talented full-back he coached at Sporting Lisbon, to Old Trafford.

However, Manchester United’s pursuit of Mendes appears to be hitting roadblocks. L’Équipe reported that the player is reassessing his future and is now leaning toward staying at PSG.

Mendes’ representatives have even hinted at a potential contract extension, with Luis Enrique playing a significant role in persuading the full-back to stay in Paris. As a result, Manchester United’s interest in Mendes seems to be fading and have their sight set on another player.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Manchester United are still keen on signing Patrick Dorgu and are set to make a third offer. The two sides are currently €5 million apart, but United are prepared to go higher. Lecce are now asking for at least €35 million guaranteed, with add-ons on top.

TBR Football recently reported that the Red Devils put forward a new bid of £27 million (€33 million) after their initial £22 million offer was turned down earlier this week.

Lecce has been firm throughout January, insisting on £33 million for Dorgu and showing no willingness to lower that price.
