Andrea Cambiaso being scratched for the final Champions League reignited the speculations about his move to Manchester City since he had seemingly recovered from an ankle sprain. However, he’s not any closer to leaving than a week ago. The clock is running out, Mediaset reports.

Director Cristiano Giuntoli doubled down on his stance of not selling anybody of note in January before the Benfica tilt. The fact that the Bianconeri haven’t shortlisted any fullback suggests they don’t expect his departure.

Juventus would likely sell if Manchester City offered €65M for Cambiaso. However, the Sky Blues haven’t moved directly for him yet but only through agents and intermediaries. They were a lot swifter and more determined in their other January deals.

The reasons might be technical and tactical. The English giants are prioritizing a midfielder to replace Rodri after bolstering their defense and their attack. It’s likely that the two clubs will revisit the matter in the summer when there’ll be more time to set up the operation and for the Bianconeri to find a replacement.

Our Take on Manchester City and Cambiaso

It could have perhaps made sense a couple of weeks ago to finance multiple signings, but there doesn’t seem to be much momentum now. The Old Lady should stay true to its world as far as the exits are concerned. Instead, they should further add after the Pierre Kalulu injury, who’s out at least three weeks. They have a lot of money committed to their options/obligations to buy, and the sale of Dusan Vlahovic might not be enough, so another big one might indeed be coming.
