Manchester United fans kept in 2 hours after full-time in Istanbul; 24 hours after Fenerbahce ultra attacks

Manchester United fans were kept inside the Sukru Saracoglu stadium for two hours after the match on Thursday night.

Away fans are usually asked to remain for 30-45 minutes to let the home section exit the stadium first, but there was an exception to the rule in Istanbul as United fans were locked in for two hours.

It was bad enough not to get the win we needed, but if UEFA is called out on last night’s events, they will have some explaining to do.

Stretty News has spoken to a United fan who was in attendance last night after they left the stadium at 1:45 am local time.

The kiosk was still open and toilets were available.

Some United fans experienced violent attacks on Wednesday night in Istanbul as Fenerbahce ultras took to the streets.

At approximately 1.30 am a cheer went up and it seemed like they were finally able to get out as 2,000 fans made their way through a small door.

One United fan was spotted lying on the floor by the toilets with blood pouring from his head. Others called for help before being forced through a small door used as an exit.

The police shepherd fans to buses they had provided, which headed none stop towards the European side of the Istanbul city. That didn’t suit those who had hotels based on the Asian side of the city.

Due to the issues with exiting the stadium and buses taking the wrong route, some fans were kept behind for almost three hours after the end of the game.
