As we head towards the business end of the season, Celtic have suddenly been handed quite a few injury problems. In the most recent game against the Rangers at Parkhead, they were without two regular starters in the form of captain Callum McGregor and Auston Trusty while back-up centre-back Liam Scales was ruled out of the game as well, leading to Maik Nawrocki being brought in from the cold straight into the starting XI in the Glasgow Derby.

Trusty's issue was believed to be a minor one. But fears have risen amongst the supporters after he was ruled out of the United States national team's squad as well.

Trusty has established himself as Celtic's first-choice centre-back alongside United States teammate, Cameron Carter-Vickers. So, the fans will not want to see him spend any significant time out on the sidelines.

Pochettino has now confirmed that Trusty's absence from the squad is due to medical reasons. He said while talking in a press conference:

"I think the three players that were included in the squad was Antonee, and then Trusty and Cardoso.“For different reasons but medical reasons, they are not here for that and it’s difficult to explain because I am not a doctor.“I am not the right guy to say and to explain what happened with these guys but I see for different reasons they have some problems.“And for medical reasons, that is why they cannot be here for the CONCACAF."

One can only hope that the international break will be enough for Trusty to recover from his issue. He is an important part of this Celtic team and the club will want him back available in the nearest future.

That being said, Nawrocki's performance against the Rangers was a rare silver lining from the recent Glasgow Derby. in the aftermath of the game, many have questioned why he has been completely left out of the first-team picture by Brendan Rodgers.

If he can perform like this without any real game time, one can only wonder how well he can do if he gets some regular playing time. But for now, it is hard to imagine that he has a long-term future with the Hoops despite his impressive derby day display.
