Mohamed Salah Crowned Liverpool Player of the Season Once Again

Few footballers in the modern era manage to blend consistency with brilliance quite like Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has once again etched his name in Liverpool folklore by winning the club’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season award for a record-extending fifth time. In a season that brought silverware and staggering statistics, Salah’s individual excellence stood out even amid a title-winning campaign under new boss Arne Slot.

Salah’s Relentless Excellence Powers Title Push

Liverpool’s triumphant return to the top of the Premier League in 2024-25 was underscored by Salah’s scintillating form. With 29 goals and 18 assists in the league alone, he not only led the charge but also shared in the spoils, claiming both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award. This marked his fourth Golden Boot, equalling the all-time record, and his second Playmaker title – a testament to his all-round attacking prowess.

In total, Salah tallied 34 goals and 23 assists across all competitions. These numbers secured him the Premier League Player of the Season and the prestigious FWA Footballer of the Year honours. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans recognised his contribution with the Player of the Season award – his fifth since arriving at Anfield in 2017, having previously won it in 2017-18, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2023-24.

Milestones and Memories in a Season to Remember

From the opening weekend, Salah set the tone. A goal and an assist in a 2-0 win at Ipswich Town hinted at what was to come. By December, he had passed Billy Liddell to become Liverpool’s fourth-highest scorer of all time, thanks to a brace in the 6-3 win at Tottenham Hotspur. By March, he had climbed above Gordon Hodgson into third.

His consistency was unmatched, winning Liverpool’s Player of the Month four times and claiming Player of the Match honours on 14 occasions. His ability to deliver, whether through goals or assists, rarely dipped, even as Liverpool fought on multiple fronts.

In April, Salah put pen to paper on a new contract, reaffirming his commitment to the club. He also celebrated his 400th appearance in a Liverpool shirt in the penultimate game of the season, away at Brighton & Hove Albion. He ended the campaign with 245 goals for the club – just 40 behind Roger Hunt in second place.

Chasing Legends in Premier League History

Beyond Liverpool, Salah’s impact on English football continues to grow. His 186 Premier League goals place him fifth on the all-time list, just one behind Andrew Cole. Another strong campaign could see him climb even further, cementing his legacy among the division’s greatest ever forwards.

While Arne Slot’s debut season as manager ended in glory with a Premier League title, the driving force on the pitch remained Salah. His numbers, leadership and moments of genius played a decisive role in Liverpool’s success, and with more history in sight, there’s little sign of him slowing down.
