Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal are seen as the favourites to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah if he leaves Anfield this summer, a report has claimed.

Salah is in the final six months of his contract with Liverpool and has publicly put the club under immense pressure to offer him an extension, often admitting he feels as though he is set to depart at the end of the season.

Despite the fact Salah is in arguably the best form of his career - the Egyptian has 23 goals and 17 assists from 32 games under new manager Arne Slot to date - a new contract has not yet been agreed and he is free to discuss a move overseas if he wishes.

A handful of clubs in mainland Europe have been linked with Salah, but The Telegraph name Al Hilal as the leading suitors.

Al Hilal are in the market for a new big-name forward after seeing their £86m acquisition of Neymar end with a contract termination after just seven games, and Saudi dealmakers have long been keen to lure Salah over to the Pro League.

Those backing the league's biggest clubs pursued a £150m deal to sign Salah for Al Ittihad in 2023 but now sense the chance to snap Salah up on a free transfer, perhaps even before the Club World Cup this summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have not given up hope of retaining Salah. A new contract has been offered to the 32-year-old and negotiations between the two parties will continue, but Al Hilal's interest has upped the ante on Liverpool to get a deal done.
