Jamal Musiala signs new long-term deal with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala has signed a new long-term contract to keep him at the club until the end of the 2029/30 season

Musiala has blossomed into one of the most exciting footballers in the modern game since joining Bayern from the Chelsea youths in 2019, helping the record champions win four Bundesliga titles whilst becoming a regular Germany international.

The 21-year-old playmaker said extending a deal that was due to expire in summer 2026, with the club that gave him his senior breakthrough, was a no-brainer.

"I’m really happy. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I took my first steps in professional football here and firmly believe we can achieve something big with this club in the coming years," the 21-year-old told the Bayern website. "I feel at home both in Munich and at the club with our great fans. We’ve got a lot of things we want to achieve. I’m excited for everything that’s to come."

Musiala is already approaching nearly 200 competitive appearances for Bayern, halfway into just his fifth full season with the first team. He's hand a direct hand in over 90 goals in all competitions in that time, including 15 of his own and eight assists so far in 2024/25.

The Stuttgart native, who represented England at U15 and 16s level, has also won 39 senior Germany caps, scoring seven times.

"Top clubs across the world look for players who can make the difference, and Jamal stands out there. He’s shaping the present at Bayern and will also shape the future, is the face of our new generation," added Max Eberl, Bayern's board member for sport. "In Jamal we’ve managed to convince one of the most coveted players in the world of our long-term plan at Bayern. Players like him allow us to send out a clear message to everyone that Bayern are to be reckoned with in the future as well."

The news is an extra boost for Vincent Kompany's side in the midst of a key week that includes their UEFA Champions League knockout play-off tie against Celtic either side of a visit to defending Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. It also follows the recent extensions of other key players in Manuel Neuer and Alphonso Davies.
