Newcastle United defender Sven Botman would reportedly be open to signing a new contract with the club despite previous transfer interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old has shone during his time at St James’ Park, though this season was majorly disrupted by a serious ACL injury.

Overall, though, Botman has proven himself to be a key player for Newcastle, and fans of the club will no doubt be hoping he stays for a long time.

PSG showed an interest in Botman before his injury, according to iNews, but their report adds that he’s now open to signing a new deal to commit his future to the Magpies.

Sven Botman transfer boost for Newcastle

PSG have just reached the Champions League final and may even be the slight favourites to win the trophy this season, so it would be hard to turn them down if they came in for you.

Still, Newcastle is also an exciting project right now, with Eddie Howe’s side winning the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool earlier this season, and now closing in on Champions League qualification.

It seems that could be enough to persuade a big name like Botman that he could have a positive and successful future at Newcastle.

How far can this Newcastle team go?

Newcastle have been backed by their wealthy Saudi owners in recent years, and it seems that their investment is starting to pay off.

If Botman can be persuaded to stay, it will surely also help NUFC keep other important players like Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

Champions League football is sure to be important, so Newcastle will hope they can avoid any late mistakes in an extremely tight race for a top five finish.
