It is hard to believe that it has been five years since Spurs overcame Manchester City for a second consecutive time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a 2-0 win in the Premier League over Pep Guardiola's defending champions.

Brilliant win against Manchester City, on this day in 2020

The second of five in a row. With four different managers. The one manager to win this fixture twice was Jose Mourinho, and this was the first of the two. For this game, he went with an XI of; Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga; Lo Celo Winks; Son, Dele, Bergwijn; Lucas Moura. As is so often the case with these throwback sides, Son is the only one still at the club.

On the bench that day was; Lamela, Ndombele, Dier, Gazzaniga, Vertonghen, Sessegnon, and (Gedson) Fernandes. Needless to say - none of those players are still at the club today. So only Son from the whole match day squad. To be fair, Davies, whom is also still at the club, was injured - as well as Sissoko and Kane, which just made the win all the more impressive.

As you would expect, City had plenty of the ball in the opening stages, though were unable to do too much with it. Then, a little over five minutes before half time, they were awarded a penalty. However, Ilkay Gundogan's effort was telegraphed and well saved by Llloris. Upon a check for another penalty from the loose ball, no second spot kick was given, and the sides went into the break goalless.

Four minutes into the second half, City cut Spurs open, but Gundogan could not redeem himself for his penalty miss, instead blazing the ball over the bar when presented with an open goal - albeit a bit off balance.

Only a minute or so later, Spurs read and cut out a short City corner, leading to a break. On that counter, Oleksandr Zinchenko made a tactical foul, resulting in a second yellow card, and City being down to ten men.

Around 13 minutes later, Spurs made that count. Following an attack, Lucas scooped the ball towards debutant Bergwijn, who let the ball drop before firing a superb volley past Ederson in the City goal, causing mayhem in the stands and from the players.

With twenty minutes to go, the fatigued Bergwijn and Dele were replaced by Lamela and Ndombele. One minute later, the latter turned superbly and played a sublime ball through to Son, whom did the rest, as he so often does against City - when Spurs want to win the game. The now skipper placed the ball into the near post via a slight deflection.

Despite having ten men, City would continue to have a lot of the ball and a lot of territory, and hit the woodwork, but Spurs were able to see the game out and secure an impressive 2-0 win. The same team had drawn 0-0 to Watford two games before - so nothing has really changed there.

One of the best days at the 'new' stadium, easily. If you were to compile a list of the top 10, at least 3 or 4 would likely be game against Manchester City.
