Earlier this week it was revealed by Esteemed Kompany sources that Manchester City had a list of players they were targeting to strengthen the left-back position. One of those players was Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie. The Italian international is a quality player and his pace, power and technical ability would be a great addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

But now a new report indicates that Tottenham have no intention of selling Udogie this summer. If that is the case then City will have to look elsewhere to fill a sizable need in their squad.

Florian Plettenberg has reported via his official X account that Tottenham have no intention of selling Destiny Udogie this summer. Furthermore, Plettenberg reports that Tottenham view Udogie as a key member of their squad. Plettenberg adds that Tottenham have not set an asking price for the Italian international. Lastly, Plettenberg reports that Tottenham are likely to consider signing a backup to Udogie at left-back rather than sell one of their most important players.

Based on Florian Plettenberg’s report one potential target for Manchester City appears to be unattainable. Destiny Udogie could have been a quality addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. He is a good player with the potential to develop even further. The strengths of his game would’ve added a different element to City’s play. His pace and power would have improved City’s options at left-back. Couple that with his ability on the ball and as a defender and it’s easy to see why Manchester City have an interest in signing Udogie.

But based on Florian Plettenberg’s report it seems that Tottenham have no intention of selling Destiny Udogie. While circumstances could change it appears that Manchester City will have to look elsewhere to sign a left-back to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad.
