FC Barcelona found their opponents for the Copa del Rey semi-final stage today. They will be facing Atletico Madrid in this round, a team that is also competing with them for the La Liga title this season.

Keeping in view the quality of these two teams, this will be a highly entertaining two-legged tie. Both of these teams will be looking to get the best of the other, as the King’s Cup is one of the major trophies that these teams are aiming to add to their cabinets this season.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Atletico Madrid captain Koke reacted to his side’s semi-final draw against the Blaugranes as he left the training ground in Madrid.

The Spaniard admitted that this will be a very difficult match for his side, especially considering the form that the Catalans are enjoying:

“It’s going to be a very difficult match. We’re facing one of the most in-form teams of the season. We know their level, we know how they’re playing and how well they’re doing. It’s going to be a great semifinal. Hopefully, the best team goes through—and that will be Atlético de Madrid.”

The Atletico Madrid captain expressed his side’s confidence to take advantage of the second leg being played at the Metropolitano:

“We have the experience from last season, and we know that the first match is crucial. We understand how difficult it is to play in Barcelona, but we have our strengths and our own way of approaching the game.”

“We will try to put in a good performance in the first leg and, of course, in the return leg as well. The most important thing is to play well in Barcelona so that we can then approach the second match with our fans, who we know support and motivate us. We know what a match at the Metropolitano is like.”

There is no doubt that this semi-final encounter will be a very intense affair. The two sides have met once earlier in this season, when Atletico Madrid were able to win 2-1 against Barcelona in La Liga, despite the Blaugranes putting in a better display at the Montjuic in December.
