Lorenzo Pellegrini started in the Derby a little surprisingly and lifted Roma with a great goal in the early going. The talks concerning his exit weren’t too advanced to begin with, but it has been completely ruled out now, Il Messaggero informs.
Inter had asked for information but for the summer. Instead, the links to Napoli came more from his camp than the club, although they are searching for another midfielder.
Roma plot to hold onto Pellegrini and would also like to retain Tommaso Baldanzi and Matias Soulé, even though they are starting to display uneasiness due to their lack of minutes, especially the Argentine, Tuttomercatoweb relays.
The former Frosinone star has logged just 14 minutes since mid-December. He wishes to depart, either on loan or permanently, but the Giallorossi paid €25.6M for him last summer. He has attracted inquiries from Spain and fellow Serie A sides.
Paulo Dybala staying and avoiding injuries has limited the opportunities for the two talents, but the brass would like to keep them both to have depth. The ex-Empoli attacker has been somewhat effective as a super-sub.
The captain would have been tough to move to begin with given his wages and price tag, as he’s more valuable to them than other teams. The two talents pay the price for La Joya’s saga, which is still unresolved relative to the future. The team can’t really make long-term plans or lose high-upside contributors they invested to have, even though they haven’t been up to snuff yet.
