Inter ended Bayern Munich’s five-game winning streak at San Siro with a thrilling 2-2 draw, a result that proved enough to secure their place in the Champions League semifinals.
The Nerazzurri responded brilliantly to Harry Kane’s opener, striking twice in quick succession. Although Eric Dier’s equaliser set up a tense and nerve-wracking finale, they held on to complete the job.
Football Italia were among the accredited media at San Siro – here are the player ratings.
Inter: Sommer 6.5; Pavard 7.5, Acerbi 7, Bastoni 7 (88’ Bisseck n/a); Darmian 6, Barella 6.5 (88’ Frattesi n/a), Calhanoglu 6, Mkhitaryan 5.5, Dimarco 6.5 (72’ Carlos Augusto 6.5); Lautaro 7.5 (81’ Taremi n/a), Thuram 5.5
Best Inter players: Lautaro Martinez & Pavard 7.5 –Another massive goal in a massive moment from the Nerazzurri captain, but beyond that, yet another all-round display to support his team in every phase of the game. When he isn’t making his presence felt in the final third, his outstanding hold-up play proves crucial in relieving Bayern’s pressure and keeping their defenders constantly occupied. At the other end of the pitch, Pavard responds to the visitors’ attacking waves without ever losing focus, making several key clearances and picking the perfect moment to score his first goal of the season – against his former club, no less.

Lowest Inter rating: Thuram 5.5 –He left his attacking partner to do all the work against Bayern’s defenders, squandering every promising opportunity—whether by taking an extra touch, losing key duels, or simply lacking the sharpness the occasion demanded. His best form feels like a distant memory now, and Inter are left desperately hoping he can rediscover it at a crucial point in the season.
Inter coach: Simone Inzaghi 6.5 –A worrying first half sees his side struggle to use possession to manipulate Bayern’s pressure—something they had often done successfully in Munich—and look unusually uncomfortable off the ball, creating a constant sense that the visitors could find a crack in the wall. However, it took something special to prevent Bayern from maintaining their perfect record at San Siro: the immense character his men showed after falling behind, relying on one of their most lethal weapons—set pieces—on a night when other solutions didn’t work as they usually do.
Bayern Munich: Urbig; Laimer 6.5, Dier 6.5, Kim 5.5 (65’ Guerreiro 6), Stanisic 5.5 (83’ Coman n/a); Goretzka 6.5 (83’ Pavlovic n/a), Kimmich 5.5; Olise 6.5, Muller 5.5, Sane 5.5 (65’ Gnabry 6.5); Kane 7
Best Bayern Munich player: Kane 7 –The England international was unlikely to get three consecutive performances wrong, and he showed all his determination to bounce back by stepping up at a decisive moment, giving his side a lead that could have marked the start of another special night at San Siro. Unfortunately for him, his teammates weren’t as effective.

Lowest Bayern Munich rating: Kim and Muller 5 –Inter clearly identified the former Napoli defender as the weak link in Bayern’s backline, looking to exploit his vulnerabilities in one-on-one situations against the Nerazzurri striker. An early yellow card in the first half seemed to confirm the hosts’ assessment, and things didn’t improve as Simone Inzaghi’s side mounted a strong response following Bayern’s opener, with the defence continuing to look fragile. However, the German veteran also shares responsibility for the Bavarians’ sudden drop-off in the second half, failing to provide the attacking leadership many had expected—especially after Kompany was heavily criticised for leaving him out in the first leg.
Bayern Munich coach: Vincent Kompany 5.5 – His side’s strategy to unhinge Inter’s defence by drawing their centre-backs out of position nearly paid off in the first half, only undone by their inability to capitalise on the chances they created. However, Bayern switched off just when qualification seemed within reach, and it proved costly: allowing Inter back into the game from a set-piece situation was inexcusable, especially given how predictably dangerous the Nerazzurri are in those scenarios.
