A lovely Kenan Yildiz goal allowed Juventus to beat Genoa 1-0 on Igor Tudor’s debut. Check out the player ratings from our reporter at the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus: Di Gregorio 6; Gatti 6.5 (27′ Kalulu 6), Veiga 6, Kelly 5.5; Nico Gonzalez 6 (82′ Weah 5.5), Locatelli 6.5, Thuram 7, McKennie 6; Koopmeiners 5 (66′ F. Conceiçao 6), Yildiz 7; Vlahovic 6. Coach: Tudor 6.5.
Best Juventus player: Yildiz 7 – Left behind by Thiago Motta in recent weeks, the Turkish talent scored a fantastic solo goal to give Juve all three points. On top of that, he provided two key passes and finished the game with 89% passing accuracy (via Sofascore).
Lowest Juventus rating: Koopmeiners 5 – Quite clearly, the Dutchman still lacks confidence. He played in a more advanced position than under Motta in recent weeks, but was still inconsistent in the final third. Only 75% passing accuracy, no big chances created. No surprise he was subbed off.
Juventus coach: Tudor 6.5 – A winning debut was all he needed. The clean sheet is a plus, but Genoa didn’t do much to cause trouble for the Bianconeri. The ex-defender received a warm welcome before and during the match. The Croat even contributed to the Old Lady’s winner with a quick throw-in to spark Yildiz’s goal.
Genoa: Leali 6; Sabelli 6, De Winter 5, Vasquez 6.5, Matturro 5.5; Masini 5.5, Frendrup 6, Onana 5 (70′ Malinovskyi 6); Zanoli 5.5 (63′ Venturino 6), Pinamonti 6.5 (70′ Ekuban 5.5), Miretti 5.5 (80′ Thorsby N/A). Coach: Vieira 5.5.
Best Genoa players: Vasquez and Pinamonti 6.5 – Vasquez won 13 duels in central defence, Pinamonti had the best chance for Genoa. It was not easy to score with a volley, but his attempt was only inches wide.
Lowest Genoa rating: De Winter 5 – Beaten way too easily by Yildiz inside the box. The product of the Juventus academy is one of the most promising defenders in Serie A, but he didn’t show the best version of himself in Turin.
Genoa coach: Vieira 5.5—Juventus had a strong start, so it was not easy for the Grifone. Overall, they didn’t concede many chances to the Old Lady, but the attacking performance was a bit flat.
