Ange Postecoglou issued a passionate message to the Spurs fans during the club’s trophy parade for winning the Europa League – telling them “season three is better than season two”.

The Australian’s second season at the club has ended with them winning the Europa League, beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao and booking their place in the Champions League next season by doing so.

Postecoglou has come under significant pressure this season due to the club’s Premier League form, sitting 17th in the table with just one game left.

But speaking to fans outside the stadium during the club’s trophy celebrations, Postecoglou suggested he is going to stay: “I’ll leave you with this: all the best television series, season three is better than season two. Thank you.”

Speaking to the thousands of fans outside the stadium, Postecoglou also referenced his comments from earlier on in the campaign about always winning a trophy in his second season.

“I told them and they laughed,” he said. “I told them and they didn’t believe, but here we are.

“We’re here because of this unbelievable group of people, players, staff. Absolute heroes.”

The Tottenham boss has been adamant that his job is not finished at the club, and that he feels there has been development this season despite the poor Premier League form.

Speaking after the Europa League final, he said: “Whatever happens, happens.

“I said yesterday, we’re still building this team. It’s still a very young team. We need to add some experience to it, we’re in the Champions League.

“My thought process of what I’ve been trying to do this year is build a team that can be successful for four, five or six years.

“I’m the manager of the football club. That decision is not in my hands. It doesn’t affect me though. If it was going to affect me you would have seen it.

“All I cared about was this, having this around my neck, because if I di that meant this football club has won a trophy.

“I don’t feel like I’ve completed the job yet. We’re still building.”
