Paris Saint-Germain are looking to “repay” their supporters at the Parc des Princes tomorrow night when they host Arsenal in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Les Parisiens claimed a 0-1 win in North London a week ago through Ousmane Dembélé’s early goal, which has put Luis Enrique’s side in control of their own destiny ahead of a decisive second leg.
54-year-old Enrique hinted in a pre-match press conference that “there are a lot of potential keys” to success for PSG, but insisted that the reigning French champions must “stay true to the ideas we’ve had so far.”
“We’re here because we’ve earned it. We won the first game, and tomorrow’s objective is to win the second. There are a lot of potential keys but I think we have to repay the confidence our supporters have given us in terms of effort and emotional intelligence.”
“There will be details that we can control. We’re going to have to stay true to the ideas we’ve had so far, we’re going to get into this match and build on our strengths. If things don’t go our way, we’ll be competitive enough to turn things around.”
In Enrique’s eyes, while this is the home leg of a UEFA Champions League semi-final tie, preparations have been “relatively straightforward.”
“Today we talked about the things we could improve in attack or defence,” he explained to the media, adding that “we’ve been able to train to improve those areas.”
“We’ve got here thanks to all the work that’s been done. We have to try and take advantage of what happens before, during and after the match,” he added.
PSG host Arsenal on Wednesday 7 May, with kick-off at the Parc des Princes scheduled for 20:00 BST [21:00 CEST].
