Rangers’ search for a new CEO and permanent chairman is infamous and unfortunately too long-lasting, with fans getting itchy feet over the time it’s taking.
But Ibrox Noise sources have informed us that Rangers have 99% appointed a new CEO, Sporting Director and permanent chairman, and that investment could be incoming as well.
While there are some insistent rumours that ex-Rangers defender and former Atlanta VP and Tech Director Carlos Bocanegra is to be in one of these positions at the club, we can’t as yet verify that, but we do recall being a little disquieted that he left Rangers under a bit of a cloud in 2012, despite initial loyalty of remaining during the ‘transition’.
How suited he’d be to an executive position at Rangers under the pressure of our club is hard to gauge, but as yet, Boca is just a (strong) rumour.
He would obviously be most suited to Sporting Director, if that position is indeed being filled, but time will tell who gets these jobs in due course.
As for the investment, from the usual Hong Kong rumours (which did actually come to some small fruition because that’s where Julian Wolhardt is based) the big one is ‘American billionaire’ – a few suggestions it’s some rich Yank, but hey ho, this is just conjecture as always.
There’s also the John Halsted angle where Rangers’ American board member and investor is upping his game as well – we know the reports where he’s said to be loaning the club another £4M-£5M but there’s also talk he is the American billionaire in question.
We know he has big big assets, and it does seem kind of fate that he would muscle in with his capital and potentially start to make inroads into Rangers’ shares and ownership, but of course we’ve covered many times on this site how hard it is to take Rangers over.
But… either way it seems the club is at least close now to finally finding a CEO, Chairman and Sporting Director.
About time, on all of them.
