The powers that be at La Liga outfit Real Betis have been left surprised by the level of progress being made by sidelined midfielder William Carvalho in the early months of his recovery.
Portuguese international Carvalho was for his part condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines back in September.
This came owing to a complete tear of his Achilles tendon, widely considered to be one of the worst injuries a player can suffer.
At the time, the widespread assumption was that Carvalho’s season, as a result, had been brought to an end.
As per a report from Marca, though, if the latest word stemming from Heliopolis is anything to go by, then the 32-year-old could yet spring a surprise:
Carvalho has already begun walking without the use of crutches, as well as doing basic gym exercises in his home.
Betis, it is concluded, ‘are the first to be surprised by the progress of their player’, who are now ‘no longer ruling out the possibility that he could help the team before the end of the season’.
