Those in a position of power at La Liga giants Real Madrid are in disagreement when it comes to the club’s plans for the January transfer window.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The subject of potential reinforcements has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes after Real Madrid were dealt a fresh hammer blow on the personnel front.

En route to a 2-0 downing of Villarreal, Dani Carvajal was stretchered out of proceedings, since ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a serious knee injury.

Already short on options at the back, the immediate assumption, in turn, was that Los Blancos would dip into the market in January, to source fresh blood.

This, however, is understood to be altogether unlikely.

As per a report from the reliable Mario Cortegana and Guillermo Rai of The Athletic:

‘Club sources consulted this week expressed strong doubts the club would look to make a move in the January window.’

This comes despite the fact that Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff are of the understandable opinion that ‘reinforcement is needed’.
