The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid have identified their ‘priority’ target to reinforce the club’s ranks at right-back.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have unsurprisingly highlighted Trent Alexander-Arnold as the player in question.

The name of defender Alexander-Arnold has of course taken its place back front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes amid renewed speculation linking the England international with a move to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos recently lost first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal to a long-term injury, expected to keep the 32-year-old sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Alexander-Arnold, as a result, has reemerged as a leading transfer target at the Santiago Bernabéu.

So much so that, as per The Athletic:

‘Real Madrid have made Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold a priority target.’

It is reiterated that any such move is highly unlikely to come in January, with a move on the part of Real ‘only feasible if he runs down his contract at Liverpool’.

Alexander-Arnold’s current terms at Anfield are due to expire in the summer of 2025.
