La Liga giants Real Madrid have drafted a pair of youngsters into the club’s Champions League A list for the 2nd half of the campaign.

This of course comes amid the ongoing injury crisis in Carlo Ancelotti’s backline.

Real Madrid currently find themselves without any of Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, Éder Militão or Dani Carvajal, the latter pair for the long-term.

With the brass in Spain’s capital having opted against dipping into the January market for reinforcements, Ancelotti and co. have in turn been forced to look within the club’s ranks for help.

And as much has culminated in two young defenders, namely Lorenzo Aguado and Enrique Ribes Recaj, being afforded call-ups.

Neither player was included on either Real’s A or B squad lists for the league phase of the Champions League, ineligible for the latter owing to their respective ages.

As confirmed by Marca, though:

‘Real Madrid have taken the opportunity to strengthen their defence after the numerous absences that have plagued the first team: Loren Aguado and Enrique Ribes Recaj, Ancelotti’s ‘signings’ for the final phase.’
