Real Madrid star sits out training ahead of Real Sociedad clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Real Madrid played no part in group training in Spain’s capital on Monday.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Federico Valverde as the player in question.

Valverde, for his part, was afforded a much-needed rest over the weekend.

After taking to the pitch whilst sporting a series of fitness problems over recent weeks, the Uruguayan did not play a single minute of Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Girona.

And, in an effort to afford Valverde the optimum conditions for a return to full fitness, the 26-year-old was also not called up for group training on Monday.

Instead, the midfielder trained inside the facilities at Valdebebas.

It now remains to be seen if Carlo Ancelotti deems it appropriate to reintroduce Valverde to his starting XI on Wednesday night, when Los Blancos make the trip to Anoeta for a Copa del Rey meeting with Real Sociedad.
