Real Madrid star to be moved to new role next season | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will be fielded in an altered role in the 2025/26 campaign.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Jude Bellingham as the player in question.

England international Bellingham has of course spent the majority of his time in Real Madrid’s colours to date taking to the pitch in an attack-minded midfield role.

In an attempt to make full use of the 21-year-old’s eye for goal and a final pass alike, Carlo Ancelotti has generally attempted to keep Bellingham as close to the final third as possible.

Not only that, but the former Borussia Dortmund standout is often asked to drift to the left, whilst the likes of Federico Valverde cover the ground on the right.

Next season, though, Bellingham will be more central than ever before.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the plans of the incoming Xabi Alonso and co. for the youngster:

‘Real Madrid’s sporting management sees Bellingham’s place next season as a midfielder. They believe and maintain that his move to (an orthodox) midfield role will help make the team more competitive.’
