La Liga giants Real Madrid are set to be without a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks for the coming weeks.
The player in question? Antonio Rüdiger.
Stopper Rüdiger of course caused widespread panic in Spain’s capital on Saturday night.
This came after the German was forced into a premature departure from Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Espanyol.
En route to a shock 1-0 defeat for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Rüdiger was hauled off early on, after pulling up clutching at his right hamstring.
And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, the extent of the former Chelsea man’s setback has been revealed.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out on Antonio Rüdiger by Real Madrid’s medical services, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his right leg.’
So, what does this mean when it comes to the extent of Rüdiger’s incoming spell on the sidelines?
As revealed by Blancos insider Arancha Rodríguez, the stopper is expected to miss around three weeks of action, ruling him out of next weekend’s Madrid Derby, as well as, potentially, both legs of Real’s Champions League tie with Manchester City.
