After months of pursuit, Brazil have finally announced Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.
The Italian tactician is set to take over the reins in Brazil in the coming summer, once the ongoing La Liga campaign comes to an end.
Ancelotti’s deal with Brazil is quite a landmark for both parties. For Ancelotti, this is the first real national team assignment in his long managerial career. As for Brazil, this is the first time the Selecao has appointed a foreign head coach.
However, there were more nuances to Ancelotti’s deal with Brazil rather than just simply becoming the new coach once the season ends.
According to O Globo, part of the agreement includes an unusual clause: a friendly match between the Brazilian national team and Real Madrid.
While the exact date and venue are yet to be confirmed, the match is expected to be scheduled after Ancelotti officially takes charge of Brazil on May 26, immediately following the conclusion of the 2024/25 La Liga season.

It might be a bittersweet moment for Ancelotti, who will have to guide his team against Real Madrid after leading Los Blancos for so many years.
The Real Madrid team, on the other hand, is set to be led by Xabi Alonso, a player who has played under Ancelotti during his first stint at Real Madrid and later at Bayern Munich.
In many ways, it will be a symbolic passing of the torch, as far as the Real Madrid team is concerned.
It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid opt for a friendly before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, which is going to be Alonso’s first real competitive tournament in charge of Los Blancos.
