Real Madrid youngster Victor Muñoz was forced to deactivate the comments on his official Instagram account on Sunday evening.

This came amid a wave of abusive messages on the part of the Blancos faithful.

Real Madrid were of course back in action on Sunday, locking horns with arch rivals Barcelona in a crunch clash atop the La Liga table.

When all was said and done, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were condemned to a 4-3 defeat, their slim hopes of retaining the club’s La Liga crown ended as a result.

The day nevertheless proved a special one for the aforementioned Victor Muñoz, who was afforded his senior bow late on in Catalunya’s capital.

As alluded to above, however, what should have been a day to remember for the 21-year-old soon turned to one to forget.

After Muñoz was responsible for missing a glorious chance to draw Real Madrid level late on at Montjuïc, the club’s supporters flooded to his Instagram account, to unleash a barrage of insults and abuse.

And the significance of as much was not lost on the young attacker himself, who felt it necessary to turn off public comments as a result.
