Chelsea are relaxed about the situation surrounding Cole Palmer if they miss out on Champions League football according to Fabrizio Romano.
Enzo Maresca’s men returned to winning ways on Tuesday night with a convincing 4-0 win against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
There were four different goal scorers on the night, but Palmer wasn’t one of them and he was guilty of missing a couple of big chances.
The 22-year-old has 14 goals and six assists this season, but he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last seven games in all competitions.
Palmer put out a message on social media that he would be back after the Southampton game, and like all players he’s currently going through a difficult run of form.
The Blues are engulfed in a fiercely competitive race for Champions League and currently sit fifth in the league, just two points behind third and one point off fourth.

Missing out on Champions League football for a third year running wouldn’t be good and it could lead to players starting to question their futures.
Maresca didn’t give the most convincing answer earlier this week when questioned about Palmer’s future if Chelsea miss out on the Champions League.
It’s been reported there are no exit clauses in Palmer’s contract were Chelsea to miss out on Champions League football, and Romano has now provided an update on the situation.

“Chelsea are relaxed about the situation of Cole Palmer, first of all they are still optimistic about playing Champions League next season and Palmer hasn’t gone to them saying he’s unhappy,” he told GIVEMESPORT’S Market Madness Podcast.
It would seem highly unlikely Palmer would push to leave the club after just two seasons, but Chelsea need to get back into the Champions League and start competing for major trophies if they want to hold onto the likes of Palmer for many years to come.
