David Hancko remains Juventus’ main defensive target for next summer, but the Bianconeri are happy with Renato Veiga’s impact and will need to convince their ex-midfielder Enzo Maresca if they are to sign the Portuguese permanently next summer.

Renato Veiga joined Juventus on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but the Bianconeri don’t have an option to make his move permanent.

Veiga has already made three appearances for the Bianconeri, and both the club and Motta are satisfied with his performances.

According to Tuttosport newspaper, Chelsea refused to sell Veiga on a permanent transfer in January as Maresca is an admirer of the defender who is part of his future plans at Stamford Bridge. According to the report, Chelsea rejected offers from Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart last month.

Juventus have already identified their top summer target in defence, Feyenoord’s Hancko, and have already reached a principle of agreement with the 27-year-old.

However, if the Dutch side play hardball over the summer and refuses to sell the Slovakia international for an adequate fee, Juventus would knock on Chelsea’s door, trying to sign Veiga permanently.

Veiga made 18 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions before joining Juventus, totalling 1,166 minutes and scoring two goals.
