Chelsea failed twice in their attempts to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado with the player not keen on the move according to reports.
The Blues had a quiet January, much to the disappointment of supporters, and paid the price for that when both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu got injured during the deadline day win against West Ham.
Chelsea felt there weren’t any good value options, but it seems they explored several options during the winter window.
The Blues ended up signing 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou from St Etienne on deadline day, and he made his debut in the win against Southampton last month.
Chelsea also enquired about Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly but their approach was knocked back by the English champions.
However, it appears they also tried to sign another exciting young midfielder with El Desmarque claiming the Blues tried to sign Casado from Barcelona.

The reports claims that Chelsea are interested in the 21-year-old and apparently made him an offer, but the midfielder has no interest in leaving the La Liga giants.
Chelsea were also said to be interested in Casado again in January , but it’s unclear if another offer was made to the player.
Casado has come through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy and has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season with Barcelona sitting top of La Liga.
It seems Chelsea are potentially looking at bringing another midfielder in this summer given Romeo Lavia’s fitness issues, and they’ve also been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios.

Andrey Santos is set to return and be part of the squad next season, and whether there’s actually space in the squad for another midfielder remains to be seen.
Whatever happens in the summer Casado almost certainly won’t be playing his football at Stamford Bridge next season.
