Chelsea sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have continued to look at younger striker options according to reports.

The Blues face another busy summer and it’s claimed they will look to sell as many as seven or eight players in order to fund moves in the market.

This window is arguably the most important under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership with the Blues looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker.

Chelsea looking at younger striker options

The Blues failed to sign a striker last summer despite pursuing Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window, whilst they didn’t address the issue in the summer.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Liam Delap, who’s said to have a relegation release clause of around £40m.

The Blues have also been linked with Benjamin Sesko, but what fans would really like is a proven striker such as Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres.

However, it’s been reported Chelsea are happy with Jackson’s progress and are targeting a younger alternative to the 23-year-old.

Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has provided an update on the situation and has provided three names the Blues are keen on.

“Their two sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, have continued to look at younger options and are believed to be keen on the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap and Jonathan David as we head into final leg of the season,” he wrote in his Sky Sports column.

David would be available on a free transfer this summer and the Blues have shown before they aren’t afraid to capitalise on free agency after signing Tosin Adarabioyo last summer.

The 25-year-old has been in brilliant form for Lille this season, scoring 23 goals and ten assists in 43 games in all competitions.

He has the type of the scoring pedigree the Blues are lacking, but it seems Chelsea are set on signing a younger inexperienced player, a decision which doesn’t feel like the best if the club are going to get back to challenging and competing for major trophies.
