Bruno Fernandes Weighs Future Amid Man Utd Uncertainty

Fernandes considering future as doubts grow at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly contemplating his Manchester United future as concerns mount over the club’s potential absence from European competition next season. While United remain in contention for Champions League qualification through the Europa League final, their Premier League campaign has been woeful, leaving them languishing in 16th and far from where Fernandes expects the club to be.

At 30, Fernandes is at the peak of his powers and is believed to be deeply unsettled by the possibility of a season without European football. According to Fichajes, the midfielder is said to be “greatly worried” about the direction of the club and is starting to feel that “the sporting project isn’t moving forward”.

United have endured a turbulent season, with Fernandes often the lone bright spot. His tally of 18 Premier League goal contributions is part of a broader total of 38 across all competitions – a remarkable output in a struggling side.

Temptation of Saudi riches looms large

Speculation around Fernandes’ next move is intensifying, with Saudi giants Al Hilal reportedly ready to make a bold play for the Portuguese star. The club are prepared to offer more than €70 million (£59m) per season to lure him away from Old Trafford — a monumental rise from his current salary of £15.6 million per year.

Though Fernandes remains a key figure in United’s dressing room, the sheer scale of the Saudi offer is understood to be a significant temptation. The midfielder, while loyal, may struggle to resist such a lucrative deal amid uncertainty over the club’s competitiveness.

Sources suggest there is a “strong temptation” for Fernandes to consider his options seriously, particularly if United fail to secure silverware and with it, a route back into Europe.

Club’s stance remains firm — for now

Despite external interest and internal concerns, Manchester United have shown no indication they are willing to part with their talisman. With Fernandes still under contract for two more years, plus an option for a further year, any prospective buyer would need to present a substantial offer to test United’s resolve.

Moreover, manager Ruben Amorim sought to quell speculation in April, firmly stating:“No, it’s not going to happen. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.”

United’s hand, however, could be forced if Fernandes expresses a clear desire to leave or if an offer arrives that cannot be ignored, especially as the club seeks to rebuild under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new ownership structure.

Transfer window intrigue continues at Old Trafford

While Fernandes’ future dominates headlines, other players are also drawing attention. In a surprise twist, winger Antony, who has found form on loan at Real Betis, is reportedly on the radar of Barcelona. The Spanish giants are said to be monitoring the Brazilian’s resurgence with interest.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Andre Onana is attracting attention abroad, but reports claim the Cameroonian has no intention of leaving Old Trafford this summer. United, however, are believed to be scouting Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as a potential replacement, should their stance change.

On the incoming front, former club captain Gary Neville has publicly urged United to pursue Denzel Dumfries, who has impressed with Inter Milan in the Champions League. Whether such moves materialise may depend heavily on how United finish their season and if they secure a European spot.
