Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport sheds some light on what happened in the aftermath of Daniele De Rossi’s dismissal.
The club’s decision to sack De Rossi continues to haunt the team well over a month after the original decision was taken.
According to the newspaper, in the days that followed De Rossi’s exit, Lorenzo Pellegrini, in particular, was so disappointed by the attitude of the management – especially Lina Souloukou – that he vented to those close to him.
The captain never really considered leaving as a possibility, which would also be difficult to achieve, but he thought about a sensational gesture that could provide a jolt: giving up the captain’s armband.
However, after consulting with those close to him as well as his teammates, Pellegrini gave up the idea.
