Earlier this morning, Inter midfielder Calhanoglu spoke to Italian anti-mafia prosecutors.

This was part of the prosecutors’ ongoing investigation into Inter ultras Curva Nord and their AC Milan counterparts Curva Sud over alleged illegal activities and mafia ties.

Calhanoglu is the first Inter player who investigators have spoken to. They have already interviewed Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi and Vice-President Javier Zanetti last week.

Hakan Calhanoglu Tells Prosecutors About Scope Of Relations With Inter Milan Ultras

According to the Corriere della Sera, Calhanoglu openly admitted to having had contacts with Inter ultras with the Nord.

The Turkish international also admitted that this was in spite of the fact that the club had warned the players against interacting with the ultras.

According to the Corriere della Sera, Calhanoglu told investigators that he had felt particular gratitude regarding a banner of support from the ultras during an earthquake in his home country of Turkey.

This led to a message of thanks from the Inter midfielder.

There were then further friendly contacts between Calhanoglu and some Inter ultras after. Particularly arrested Nord leader Marco Ferdico.

However, the Corriere della Sera reports, Calhanoglu firmly denied having had dinner with Ferdico.

The 30-year-old completely rubbished rumours that there had been a dinner between he, Ferdico, and murdered Inter fan Antonio Bellocco and their families.

Calhanoglu also added that he did not know who Bellocco was at the time of meeting him.

Bellocco was an Inter fan with connections to the ‘nrangheta organized crime group. He was murdered by Nord leader Andrea Beretta earlier this year.

Lastly, regarding a gift of shirts that he gave to Nord members, Calhanoglu did not deny this.

He stated that he had given the shirts to the group for what he believed were charitable purposes.
