The match between Athletic Bilbao and Roma did not end with the final whistle, but continued outside the San Mamés with moments of high tension.

Some Spanish ultras, in fact, attempted to attack the Giallorossi fans as they exited the stadium, but their plan was foiled by the police.

As reported by ElCorreo.com, a group of Athletic fans tried to reach the away sector to confront the Roma fans, but were intercepted and charged by the local police, who were busy escorting the Italian fans to safe areas.

The situation quickly degenerated in the city, with clashes, broken shop windows, burning bins and even intimidation of other Basque fans.

After a few hours of chaos, the tension subsided thanks to the intervention of the authorities, who restored order to the streets of Bilbao.
