Romano: £60m striker now tempting Chelsea; only has 5 open play goals this season

We haven’t been too convinced by the talk of Joao Pedro potentially moving to Chelsea this summer so far.
It’s true that the Blues are looking for a striker, but it just feels like he’s too old and too expensive to fit our transfer model – and not prolific enough to make us bend our own rules.

But Fabrizio Romano’s latest update, an exclusive for GiveMeSport makes everything seem a little more possible. His sources confirm that the Brazilian is “looking for a new opportunity”, and that the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea are interested.
As always, Brighton’s fearsome ability to get huge money for the players they sell (which Chelsea are well acquainted with after buying Marc Cucurella and Moises Caciedo for huge fees in recent years) will play a huge role – but Romano has claimed their demands are coming down.
The Seagulls are apparently willing to consider offers “around £60m”, which is a sum it’s possible to imagine Chelsea paying. That would make him a similar price to someone like Liam Delap, and potentially less than other targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
The question is whether Chelsea think he’s good enough. He got 10 goals in the Premier League this season, but 5 of them were penalties.
Like the Blues’ current first choice striker Nicolas Jackson, however, Joao Pedro is known for being strong in other areas, with great work rate and link up with his teammates. There’s certainly talent – but do we want another “project” player?”
The big game of striker musical chairs has begun ahead of this summer – now we wait and see who ends up where.
