Roy Keane reveals he was in Seville for Celtic’s UEFA Cup Final

Former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder Roy Keane has revealed that he was in attendance for the UEFA Cup Final in Seville…

Speaking to Stick to Football with Martin O’Neill as a guest, Gary Neville asked MON if he could change one result from his managerial career. As quick as a flash the Irishman said that he would change the result against Porto in Seville.

On the back of this, Keane nodded and said that he was there supporting Celtic for the game. The player was captain of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man Utd at the time and would actually sign for Celtic a few years later on.

Keane was one of an estimated 80,000 Celtic supporters that travelled to the Spanish city for the European Final against the Portuguese side. Unfortunately, Celtic were unable to bring the trophy home despite the inspired performance from Henrik.

Celtic twice came from behind through Henrik Larsson but lost the game in Extra Time after Bobo Balde was sent off. The Porto side, managed by Jose Mourinho, would go on to win the UEFA Champions League the following season.
