Fortunately for Man United though, it would appear that the bug has not affected the entire squad with Amorim revealing that just one player has been struck down by illness this week and is now a doubt for the Spurs game.

Speaking on Friday afternoon, Amorim said: “It has been a good week. Until two days ago, we had some problems, also as we don't have players back.

"Maybe we will have one or two issues but we are waiting. We have one player who is sick, so we will see the team on the weekend.

“But it was good to work with the team and to try to help the players in our performances."

When asked by reporters to reveal the identity of the Man United injury doubts for the Spurs clash, Amorim refused to give anything away: "No, no, we will see at the weekend,”he replied.

United are set to be without at least four senior players for the trip to north London.

Lisandro Martinez suffered a knee injury in the recent defeat to Crystal Palace and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, joining Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton missed last week’s FA Cup fourth round win over Leicester and it could be that the pair may not be fit enough for a swift return to action.
