Davide Calabria is getting closer to leaving AC Milan on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to a report from journalist Nicolo Schira.

Despite the fact that the 27-year-old is a club captain and has been a regular starter to this point, there have been several reports claiming that Calabria’s future is ‘up in the air’, especially given his contract situation.

According to the latest from Schira, Calabria is ‘getting closer to leaving Milan as a free agent’ at the end of the season. His contract extension is not a priority for the management, as of now, and in fact that talks to extend his deal ‘stalled many months ago’.

The signing of Emerson Royal from Spurs in the summer has shifted the hierarchies in the right-back position, with Calabria now seemingly the back up. He has also suffered with injuries already this season and is not expected back for the game against Udinese on Saturday.

Where might he end up if he does depart on a free transfer? A report from Turkey earlier in the month claimed that Galatasaray are keen on the idea of making the Italian an offer, having been linked during the summer too.
