Scotland take on Poland in a must-win UEFA Nations League game on Monday night.
Steve Clarke’s side travel to Warsaw knowing only a win will be enough to preserve their top-tier status in the Nations League. However, a 1-0 win over Croatia last week has handed the Tartan Army an outside chance of qualification for the quarter-finals.
There’s plenty to play for in Poland and Scotland will be buoyed after a first win in 10 competitive internationals last time out.
Poland are level on points with Scotland and will avoid automatic relegation if they do not lose. However, Michał Probierz’s side come into the contest on the back of a 5-1 thrashing at group winners Portugal.
John McGinn scored the winner off the bench against Croatia and the Aston Villa midfielder will hope he has done enough to earn a recall to the starting side.
Tommy Conway got the nod at centre-forward in the absence of the injured Che Adams, though Lawrence Shankland and Lyndon Dykes – who replaced Conway off the bench against Croatia – are vying with the Middlesbrough striker for the role.
Elsewhere, Ben Doak produced another impressive performance in a Scotland shirt and was heavily involved in McGinn’s winner. The 19-year-old has been an eye-catching performer during the Nations League campaign.
Scotland predicted XI: Gordon; Ralston, Souttar, Hanley, Robertson; McGinn, Gilmour; Doak, McTominay, Christie; Dykes.
Poland host Scotland in the Nations League on Monday 18th November 2024. Kick-off in Warsaw is 19:45 GMT.
