Simple Leicester message for massive issue up front

There are only nine opportunities for Leicester. This isn't about staying in the top flight of the English Premier. Instead, the remaining chances have to show a side that hasn't given up. Relegation is happening unless both Wolves and Ipswich Town see a dramatic fall-off. Fans expect to see more of their LCFC side, even if the season ends with a further nine losses.

Staying up in the Premier League was always going to be a challenge. Too many matches, however, saw an unacceptable level of effort and desire from the players. Shifting to a three centre back system has proven to be a slight improvement under Ruud van Nistelrooy in the latest fixtures. A lot of this comes too late in the season, however.

The bigger concern, moreover, is going forward in the attack. City are on a record-high winless streak. While the immediate concern of conceding too many soft goals has been temporarily solved, scores aren't even few and far between. Goal-scoring and quality chances just aren't happening at a high enough rate.

Can it be this simple for Leicester City?

Mounting frustrations within the club remain. Those in the dressing room are left looking for answers. Speaking with reporters, Patson Daka explained this current offensive dilemma:

"It was a tough night for us to be honest. I think we could have got something from this game. We had some chances which we didn’t capitalise on. We just need to keep working and keep fighting. It’s part of the game. We just need to continue to give everything. We have to do everything that we can to try and get that first goal. I think that’s what we are lacking – to get the ball into the net. That will change everything."

Sometimes, it can be that easy. The explanation may seem too simplistic, but this is often the case with teams facing a goal drought. Until one of the Foxes sees an effort of theirs go in, a looming cloud overhead will make it seem impossible to overcome.

Each match, particularly early on, has a moment in which an effort could have resulted in a goal. Good teams have the ability to consistently create multiple good looks throughout the rest of the 90. Because Leicester doesn't have this ability often enough, a goal, no matter how sloppy or even if it's the simplest of tap-ins, needs to happen soon. Only that can break this current cycle.
