We were treated to quite the performance last night as the Bhoys turned on the style and blew away a sorry Dundee side. Just like the last time the sides met up at Dens Park, there were six goals in the game but sadly for the victors Celtic were in a much less generous mood and there was no sharing this tome around.
The football on show was quite sensational, the passing, the tempo, the pressing, and of course the final product were all there. It took a penalty kick to breach the Dundee defence, and Arne Engels made no mistake from the spot. After this feeble effort against BSC Young Bhoys was saved it took tremendous courage to step up again but this time the contact with the ball was perfect and the shot was both fiercely stuck and perfectly placed in the corner.

The final result was never in doubt after that and these Celtic players took full control of the proceedings with Adam Idah instinctively finishing with a thumping shot from close range just on the stroke of half time to give us a two goal cushion. Dundee had lost 6-0 to Hearts at the weekend and at that moment their small group of supporters must have been dreading what was to come in the second half. They had good reason for that concern.
Brendan Rodgers’ side fully exerted their authority in the second half and Man of the Match Daizen Maeda made it 3-0 with a finely taken header with a wonderful assist from Jota on the wing. Soon the Magnificent Mr Maeda made it 4-0 with the goal of the game from a goal that started in our own box. Indeed this will surely be a contender for Goal of the Season.

Brendan started the comparisons to Henrik Larsson in his media conference ahead of the game and Daizen backed that up with two brilliantly taken goals and an awesome performance. Celtic supporters on social media – and indeed Sandman in his ratings that as we all know are definitive – was also at it. How we will miss him against Bayern Munich next week.
The superb Arne Engels played a delightful through ball and despite a touch by the Dundee defender, it fell to Daizen who exquisitely lobbed the goalkeeper for a finish that Henrik Larsson would have been proud of. No-one was missing Kyogo last night as Celtic absolutely sparkled.

Arne Engels got in the act to make it number five with a shot from outside the area, and although it took a slight deflection, it was a superb effort by the Belgian for his second of the game.
We weren’t finished there, and the incredible Nicolas Kuhn got in on the act with a superb effort of his own by smashing home a trademark left foot curler to round off the scoring in impressive fashion.

That was another goal of the season contender on a night where Nicolas Kuhn fell behind new top scorer Henrik Maeda, it’s 17 to 18 and the pair will be planning on adding many more with Idah on 4 in 3 games since Kyogo left, Johnny Kenny showing promise as the back-up striker and Jota already among the goals even before he gets himself up to full steam.
It was a perfect night in Paradise, and for Dundee there was nothing at all that could have been done against Celtic in this kind of form.
There’s no-one better. 501 and counting Calmac, just 13 other legends ahead of you. Wonder how many you of them you’ll overtake before your finished? Hopefully them all!
