An interesting one from Sky Sports.
The broadcaster revealing that Newcastle United fans will set a new Premier League record this season.
‘The combined 9,425 miles Newcastle must travel to their Premier League away games this season. A new league record. Their next trip takes them to the capital this weekend, and a tough encounter away to Chelsea.’
For Newcastle United fans, it wasn’t great news at the end of last season, losing their two shortest away trips of last season, with two especially difficult places added to get to, if travelling from Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Burnley and Sheffield United going down, whilst Southampton and Ipswich came up.
Whilst Luton were also relegated and Leicester the other club to come up.
Obviously, it is pretty ironic for Sky Sports to be the ones pointing out these record new distances that Newcastle United fans have to travel in the Premier League, when it is they (Sky Sports) who are the ones most responsible for making it even more difficult for NUFC fans to travel all those miles. With changes such as Sunday’s 2pm visit to Chelsea.
