Southampton FC: £100m claim made amid Dragan Solak sale talk

The Saints are hoping to make some big profits between now and next season.
Southampton FC's chairman, Dragan Solak, believes that the club can make at least £100 million this summer from the sales of players like Tyler Dibling, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Aaron Ramsdale.
The Saints have known their fate for a while now and should have planned accordingly for the upcoming summer window, because other clubs have.
West Ham United, alone, are said to be interested in Dibling, Harwood-Bellis, Ramsdale and soon-to-be free agent Kyle Walker-Peters, as per talkSPORT, however the Hammers will face some competition from Fulham for the highly-rated full-back.
Those first three players, who are all on much longer contracts, were always going to attract attention this summer due to Southampton's relegation. Much like the last time they went down, two seasons ago, when they were the Championship's biggest sellers, the vultures of the Premier League are circling, looking to pick off an easy dinner from the Saints' carcass.
While they may have gone down lightly, Southampton aren't planning on letting any of their best assets walk away as part of a cheap deal.
Solak, the television tycoon who is the lead investor in the club's 80% majority owners, Sport Republic, believes that they can generate more than £100 million in sales this summer by allowing some of their best players to leave, according to talkSPORT.
The sale of Dibling alone may generate the nine-figure revenue that they're hoping for this summer, as the Daily Telegraph have reported that's what Southampton want for the 19-year-old.
The last time the Saints were relegated from the Premier League (Solak's second summer in charge of the club), they made £145 million from player sales, as per Kieran Maguire.
This news comes amid speculation about the future of the club's owners. A rumour was spread by talkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan that the Southampton bosses would be willing to sell the club.
It was later speculated that they only wanted £125 million for the club that they paid £100 million for in January 2022, but the Daily Echo have now said that Solak and his fellow investors would want much more than that in order to sell.
Even if the Saints really want to keep their hands on the exciting players that are being so coveted by Premier League clubs, the players, themselves, will want to be operating and testing themselves at the best level possible.
We already know Harwood-Bellis is more than capable in the second tier. Ramsdale is an England international and Dibling is one of the hottest prospects in the country right now. They need to be in the Premier League. Southampton are lucky enough that they should be able to make a lot of money from all of them, and any others who may see their futures elsewhere.
